At-home learning is new for both parents and children. The connection between parents and teachers is now, more so than ever, incredibly important. Parents need direct communication with teachers in order to determine what children should be learning. In order to do this, teachers need to make themselves available and approachable so that parents feel willing to reach out to them for help. When a parent does not know the material a child is learning, it is important for them to reach out to teachers. In addition, parents can use these times as opportunities to model a growth mindset. If parents admit to children that they are not familiar with the learning material, but are willing to learn it with the child then this shows children the importance of resilience. This emphasizes the importance of task persistence to children.
